All those annoyingly trite sayings about being 'too close to see the wood for the trees' have their basis for most of us in a certain amount of truth... We might get there on our own in the end but it's a darned sight easier to have someone who's not too close to us to move the whole process along and avoid wrong turns or cul de sacs.
