		<description>It&#039;s not often that I disagree with Linda (just as well really as we work together).  But, although I agree that positively phrased resolutions/goals are much more likely to succeed, I DO see a value in the &quot;New Year deadline&quot;.

Let me explain.  For those of us who are always well organised and do not procrastinate on goal-setting then she is absolutely right.  But for some of us it just ain&#039;t that easy!

If you are thinking of applying a New Years&#039; resolution to yourself you are already thinking about what it is and what you want to achieve - so why haven&#039;t you already done it?

The answer, I suspect, is that you know that without a deadline, somehow that goal will never quite manage to get set - that you are using Dec 31 midnight (ish) as  an aid to making sure that you actually DO what you know you should be doing anyway.
